The 46-year-old Kooringal man was taken into custody after police executed a search warrant on a Lake Albert Road property Thursday morning.
According to police, the firearm was found in the speaker when a search warrant was executed on a Chifley Crescent property on August 26.
The firearm was subjected to forensic testing, including DNA sampling, which allegedly linked the man to the weapon.
Wagga police crime manager Detective Inspector Darren Cloake said it would be alleged the man was subject to a firearm prohibition order that was first served on him in 1989 and was reinforced on August 1 this year.
Inspector Cloake said the revolving rifle was a prohibited weapon.
It is alleged it was found in a shoulder holster and was loaded.
Police also allege a small amount of methamphetamine was found in the speaker.
