THE Wagga Base Hospital redevelopment has capped off another milestone with concrete poured into the new building's helipad this week.

About 400 cubic metres of concrete was used to fill in the rooftop helipad, which Hansen Yuncken project manager Michael Martin described as a large pour.
"It will also be a very specialised (pour) because of the need to have lights fitted for the helicopter arriving and departing from the helipad," he said prior to the pour.
"It is the final major pour for the new hospital."
Concreters worked throughout the day on Wednesday to complete the work.
When complete in early 2016, the new acute services building at the hospital will include services such as a new emergency department, operating theatre suite, critical care unit, radiology, sterilising, paediatric inpatient unit, acute medical and surgical/orthopaedic inpatient units.
Redevelopment executive manager Irene Hing said the new service would offer a range of models of care for patients and their families to assist them in their treatment and recovery.
