The Eastern Riverina, which includes Wagga, will experience severe fire danger while the Southern Slopes fire district is set for very high danger.

Temperatures of 32 degrees are forecast for Wagga on Thursday.

However, winds will be of concern to firefighters, with westerly winds of up to 40km/h predicted during the day.

Firefighters had a warning of things to come between Tatton and Bourkelands on Wednesday, when a small fire broke out between the two suburbs.

Quick work saw the fire extinguished before it could spread.
