Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life – Saturday, August 22
What if women told the truth a little more, to ourselves and each other? What if we admitted marriage can be tough, motherhood is a challenge and doing it all is exhausting. What if, instead of the Hollywood version of marriage and motherhood, we saw a depiction of how it really is – relentless, exhilarating, infuriating, hilarious, complicated. Written by and starring Amity Dry, well known from Channel Nine’s hit TV show The Block.
Australia Day – Friday and Saturday, September 4 and 5
The country town of Coriole is getting ready for Australia Day – a time to crack open a frothy, stick a snag on the barbie and celebrate what it means to be a true blue Aussie. The Australia Day committee is gearing up to put on the town’s biggest party – but they have a few issues of their own to sort out first. Written and directed by Jonathon Biggins.
Circus Oz - But Wait ... There's More – Saturday, September 12
With an astonishing mix of stunt jumping acrobatics, cutting-edge juggling, virtuosic unicycling, elegant flying trapeze, cheeky impersonations, ridiculous knockabout and multi-skilled human physical exuberance, But Wait… There's More is a circus, sometimes masquerading as pure entertainment, always celebrating the collective power of a group of fabulous humans, while at times playfully satirising the rising tide of reality television, consumerism, and today's fast-paced thirst for more. All of this is entwined within original music performed by Circus Oz's live and physically acrobatic band.
The Confidence Man – Friday and Saturday, September 25 and 26
The Confidence Man is Dogville meets Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt – a morally complex tale complete with goodies, baddies, and a dose of good old fashioned psychotic menace. Featuring vocal performances by some of Perth's finest actors, The Confidence Man unfolds with the gripping intimacy of a tale whispered in your ear. Being in the middle of a life and death situation has never been so fun.
Natalie Weir’s Carmen Sweet - Wednesday, October 7
Spend the night with the definitive seductress of stage as she weaves her deliciously wicked wiles through one of Expressions Dance Company's (EDC) most loved productions. Bell Shakespeare's Hamlet – Saturday, October 10
Dark acts result in darker consequences. And there is little that's darker and more complicated than the act of revenge. A family torn apart by murder, a son burdened with the truth and the task of avenging his father, and a country on the brink of war. Anguish, passion and desperation collide in this tragic telling of Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark who is tormented by the impossibility of his dilemma, and who remains one of theatre's most fascinating characters.
Wagga Civic Theatre's Community Musical will be:
