It's expected more than 3000 people will be joining students as the graduation ceremonies take place over three days, beginning today.
During this morning's graduation, the 253 graduates will be addressed by Captain Richard de Crespigny.
Captain de Crespigny was famously piloting Qantas flight 32 in November 2010 when one of the Airbus A380's engines suffered a un-contained failure puncturing part of the wing, disabling hydraulic systems, causing fuel leaks and a fire in the fuel tank.
Debris falling from the plane fell on houses and cars on the Indonesian island of Batam.
Despite the damage, Captain de Crepigny was able to eventually land the plane in Singapore with no injuries to 440 passengers on board.
Reverend Professor Stephen Pickard of the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, founder of 365Cups Simone Eyles and NSW parliamentary secretary for rural and regional health Melinda Pavey will also each present an occasional address.
There will be students graduating from the schools of humanities and social sciences, psychology, communication and creative industries, education, agriculture, dentistry, nursing, midwifery and indigenous health, management and accounting.
Several honours are expected to be presented with the University Medal to be awarded to pharmacy graduate Jamie Pisani and agricultural science honours student Leah Garnett awarded with the Agricultural Science Medal.
