The 86-year-old was well known throughout the community, particularly for starting Breust Real Estates in 1967.
He married Joan (dec'd) in 1954.
Wal will be remembered by his children and children in-law Vicki and Wayne Roose and Scott and Karen, brothers Baden, Milton and his sister-in-law Barbara.
Born in Temora in 1928, Wal joined his brother Milton in real estate in 1967.
Their brother Baden joined the business in 1970.
Milton said Wal ran much of the business, describing him as meticulous with a keen attention to detail.
Wal was heavily involved in the Riverina and South West Slopes Division of the Real Estate Institute of NSW.
He was also a committed Rotarian.
"We were all fairly close," Milton said.
"We worked together for between 25 and 30 years."
Milton said moving the business from its Baylis Street location was a big step.
"We never had any arguments, we each had our own things to do.
"Wal was fussy about detail, he managed the place and did quite a good job."
Later in life, Wal was a keen golfer and enjoyed bowls.
"He will be missed," Milton said.
A hanksgiving service celebrating Wal's life will be at St John's Anglican Church on Monday at 11am.
