Two months after finishing their football commitments with Southcity, Little and Merritt have yet to re-sign with the Wagga club or announce they are leaving.
The Daily Advertiser understands Little and Merritt have held talks with Southcity since losing the Group Nine grand final with the Bulls in September.
However, Southcity captain-coach Nick Skinner admits he is "unsure" about the playing plans of the two Bulls backs.
Skinner yesterday confirmed Southcity officials had conferred with Little and Merritt, but no deal had apparently been struck.
"I'm unsure where they're up to," Skinner said.
"I know the club has spoken to them."
Merritt and Little are the only two senior players the Bulls have yet to re-sign for the 2015 premiership.
Significantly, rumours have been widespread of attempts to lure the dynamic pair away from the Wagga club, with the two players certainly key targets for talented-starved Group 20 clubs.
For Skinner, the cloud over Little and Merritt is definitely not distracting him from his initial coaching post.
Signed for the Bulls job after Daniel Fitzhenry sensationally stepped down in October, Skinner yesterday revealed the Bulls had already started "unofficial" pre-season training.
"We've been running a couple of times," Skinner said.
"There's between eight and 10 (players) at every session.
"It's just for the guys who wanted to do a bit of extra stuff."
Skinner said Southcity would open its pre-season campaign in a fortnight.
"Official training starts the first week in December," Skinner said.
"We'll have one run a week for all grades to start with.
"It won't be too serious, more or less a bit of conditioning.
"We'll really get into in January."
With an impressive football pedigree, including six years in the NRL system at Cronulla and Manly, Skinner seems set to be a first-up coaching success.
