KOORINGAL Colts need just 66 more runs to claim an important victory over Wagga RSL.
Colts were the big winners from the opening day's play on Saturday when they dismissed the unbeaten Bulldogs for 110 at Robertson Oval.
Colts are already 3-45 and require just a further 66 runs to be the first team to beat Wagga RSL this season.
It was slow bowling that did the damage to Wagga RSL as Colts pair Keenan Hanigan and Andrew Dutton put the Bulldogs in a spin.
Hanigan claimed 4-38 off 25.2 overs with his off-spin, while Dutton gave the opposition little to work with as he finished with 2-18 off 17 overs.
Todd Henderson provided the only opposition as he saved the Bulldogs with an innings of 47.
Hanigan could not have been happier with Colts' performance with the ball.
"I'm really happy, we bowled and fielded really well," he said.
"It was one of our best efforts all year.
"But the job's only half done obviously."
Jeremy Bunn, Dutton and Nick Perryman are the three wickets Colts have lost.
Ben Webster and Harry Perryman are at the crease, while Colts will be boosted by the return of David Bolton next week.
He will come in at the fall of the first wicket of the day.
Hanigan would have liked to be in a better position at stumps.
"One or two down, I would have taken that but at 3-45, I think we're only just ahead," he said.
"Anything can happen."
Hanigan played down his own performance with the ball.
"I was happy with my personal effort but I was backed up by the guys in the field," he said.
"I was lucky enough to get a few but overall, everyone bowled well.
"The pressure was really good all day, it was a team effort."
Young paceman Riley Corbett impressed in his first grade debut for Wagga RSL and has 1-0 off two overs.
