TOP Sydney jockey Blake Shinn did not disappoint his followers upon his visit to Wagga as he guided home a winning treble at Murrumbidgee Turf Club on Thursday.
Shinn started and finished the day off with a bang as he guided the first winner home then also enjoyed success later in the day to cap off a worthwhile visit to Wagga as the special guest on Stan Sadleir Stakes day.
Shinn produced a top ride to score on Tangambalanga ($4.60) in the Book For MTC Christmas Party Day F&M Maiden (1200m), then showed his class as he guided Fasuka ($3.80) home in the Avis Riverina Class One & Maiden Plate (1600m).
Shinn followers finished the day on the right note when he guided the well-backed Bootlegging ($1.90) to victory in the Southwest Stockfeeds-Mitavite Class Two Plate (1300m).
Shinn, winner of the 2008 Melbourne Cup, was happy to come down and ride a few home at Wagga.
"After the club asked me to come down I was hoping to have a good day for them," Shinn said.
"It's been great,I always enjoy coming down here.
"Scott Sanbrook from the club asked me so I was more than happy to oblige and come down to support the meeting."
Shinn rode four winners at Rosehill on Saturday and continued his good form at Wagga.
The 27-year-old is happy with his form of late.
"I'm going well, couldn't be happier," he said.
"I was halted by suspension just prior to the Melbourne Cup but after that it's been great going."
Meantime, Albury trainer Brett Cavanough put Steel Ears on the market after his win in the Riverina Plaster Works Maiden Handicap (1200m).
Steel Ears ($8.00) sat outside the leader and edged out Angus Rock ($5.00) by a head in a tight finish.
The Gary Colvin-trained Sweetly Gliding ($17.00) hit the line nicely for third, while short-priced favourite The Run ($1.85) never looked a winning hope on debut and finished fourth.
Cavanough said he is tempted to move Steel Ears on after breaking through at start number three.
"He probably needs a new sponsor now, we might sell him," Cavanough said.
"He might still improve a bit yet."
