For more than a decade the Wagga Amateur Picnic Race Club has been raising money through its once-a-year October long weekend race day in aid of Country Hope, a charity which supports families whose children are suffering cancer and other life threatening illnesses.
Outgoing Wagga picnics president Simon Playfair said it was the club's generous sponsors and charity club supporters which that made the large donation possible.
The $30,000 comes after a $10,000 donation from the picnics to Country Hope to help launch its education fund earlier this year.
"We have a lot of loyal sponsors who reach into their pockets each year unquestioned to support the picnics race day and it is because of them that we are able to continue to give these large sums of money to Country Hope," Mr Playfair said.
He said the picnics' charity club, which raises money to sponsor each child who attends the Country Hope camp, continues to be a success.
"For $330, the charity club allows individuals and small businesses to be able to donate to a good cause without breaking the bank balance," he said.
Country Hope manager Ellie Webb said the picnics' ongoing support played a pivotal role in the organisation being able to offer the services it does to struggling families.
The picnics has donated more than $330.000 to Country Hope since 2003.
"The support has been unbelievable and (the money) is very important in allowing us to carry out the Country Hope camp," Ms Webb said.
