TWO Riverina footballers are expected to get another chance with their respective AFL clubs despite being delisted this week.
Osborne's Adam Schneider and Leeton's Kurt Aylett have both been delisted by St Kilda and Essendon respectively, but have been told they will be re-drafted onto the club's rookie list.
Schneider has played 213 games over a 12-year AFL career and will be re-drafted in the AFL rookie draft on December 3.
The 30-year-old has been plagued be injury over the past three years but was able to string together the last eight games of this season to prove to St Kilda coach Alan Richardson he still has plenty to offer.
Schneider will continue training with the Saints when players return later this month.
St Kilda's chief operation officer Ameet Bains told saints.com.au the club recognised the influence Schneider could have on the Saints' young group.
"We are looking forward to Adam continuing with us as a mature-aged rookie. He still has much to offer on-field while also continuing to provide strong leadership to our young, emerging playing group," Bains said.
Aylett, meantime, faces a similar fate.
Essendon has told the Leeton youngster that they intend to re-draft him in the AFL rookie draft.
Aylett was traded from Greater Western Sydney to Essendon at the end of last season and managed two games with the Bombers this season.
Essendon general manager football operations Rob Kerr said the club still has high hopes for Aylett.
"Kurt will return to pre-season training next week and continue his preparations for the upcoming season," Kerr told the Essendon club website.
"Kurt is a valued member of our playing group and we look forward to his ongoing development."
