In his first game of the season after a Fijian holiday, Elliott is looking for his team to post a more competitive total against Kooringal at McPherson Oval.
The Saints are yet to score more than 150 in their two losses this season.
Batting first on both occasions, Saints haven't been able to score enough runs to give their bowlers a fighting chance.
With the extra off-season Elliott is looking to bolster the struggling Saint Michaels batting line up.
The skipper is hoping changes in the order can spark a few more runs.
"We will have a couple back this week, in myself and Tommy Byrnes, so that should boost the batting line up a bit," he said.
"I don't think we've scored enough runs to give us a chance.
"We are looking to post around the 170 plus mark to be competitive."
The Colts have started the season well, with a win over South Wagga and a last ball loss to Wagga City in round one.
With the impressive form, Elliott knows his team will need to improve if they are a chance of scoring its first win of the season.
"We've had two losses to start the year so we are looking to get our first win and get some spirit back around the club," he said.
"They've started well, they nearly beat Wagga City and beat South Wagga last week, so they will be tough to beat."
Kyle Buckley also comes into the Saints bowling line up, replacing Rhys Lloyd.
Kooringal have made two changes with Nick and Harry Perryman out.
After scoring a century in second grade last weekend Matt Etchells will come in, while Warren Bartlett will also add to the Colts batting order.
