Purchased at the two-year-old Ready to Run sales, the son of Artistic Fella wasn't ready for the track yet.
Given time to mature, the four-year-old didn't hit the track until August.
He finished third on debut at Young and wasn't placed again until a breakthrough win at Wagga last night.
Coming away from a tricky draw on the inside of the second row, Artistic Revenge finally some of the talent trainer Michael Day Jnr knew he had.
"He's got potential but he's been a real hiccup to get going," Day said.
"He's got a lot of promise but is just starting to learn how to race.
"Hopefully now he's got one of the board he will keep going through."
The big horse is prone to galloping, but is starting to keep on his best behaviour.
He came around the field to win the Modern Art Pace by 2.2 metres in his fifth start.
Lettuceplayginger was another horse to score her first win last night.
Finishing second last week in her second start, the Shadow Play three-year-old stormed past Starzzz In Order in the home straight to score by 7.8 metres.
After slow early sectionals the Paul Kahlefeldt-trained filly clocked a last half of 58.3 seconds.
