SOUTH Wagga captain Joel Robinson has plenty of respect for Kooringal Colts ahead of Saturday's showdown at Wagga Cricket Ground.
South Wagga was easy 67-run winners over St Michaels in last week's opening round but will get a much better gauge on its position when it takes on Colts in Saturday's second round fixture.
Colts went down to reigning premier Wagga City in an opening round thriller when Cats' Ben Armour hit a six off the final ball to clinch a three-run win.
Robinson will head into Saturday's match with the utmost respect for an improved Colts team.
"From all reports they played a fair again last week against Wagga City," Robinson said.
"Wagga City is a fair side and Colts came out a tad unlucky.
"They line up fairly similar to us, they've got a lot of spin options and they're fairly good at the top of the order batting.
"It should be a pretty good game."
Robinson is confident of a win, but knows he will get a good guide to how is team is travelling, no matter the result.
"St Micks had a few out last week so it was going to be a little bit hard for them straight up," he said.
"This will work out where we're at.
"Obviously we'll go into the game fairly confident and this will definitely give us a good indication."
South Wagga will welcome Jeremy Sykes into the team, for the unavailable Alex Jones.
Sykes will be used for his medium paced bowling, and will bat in the lower order.
Robinson was happy with South Wagga's start last weekend but wants the Blues to keep building.
"We want to continue winning, that's the main objective," he said.
"I don't actually think we bowled that great last week so that's a big area we can improve on.
"Obviously (Grant Forrest) and I scored runs last week but I'd like to see, if one of us fails this week, that someone can step up and get runs."
