Witnesses said a woman backed a white sedan into the Boorowa Street pharmacy at about 9.35am.
Pharmacy assistant Lisa Northover had to run for cover when the car came to a halt less than a metre away from her.
"I was standing right at the closest checkout and had just finished a phone call and I heard a car revving, a thunk as it hit the gutter, saw it coming my way and I thought this car is not going to stop so I just ran and screamed," she said.
Fortunately she was the only person at the front of the store when the incident occured.
"It was either a heart starter or a heart stopper - I'm not sure," she said.
Police, ambulance and fire and rescue were on the scene soon after.
Traffic was temporarily affected with council workers directing drivers.
Young Ambulance Inspector Stephen Pollard said the 76-year-old female driver avoided injury but was transported to Young District Hospital for further assessment.
Meanwhile, no one was hurt when a car hit a police vehicle head on at Wondalga on Wednesday morning.
The accident occured at about 10.30am at the edge of the Wondalga township, on Batlow Road.
The road was closed for a short time to recover the vehicles following the accident.
