Once the place where footy careers were made, and talked about, the site will be carved up for housing, with the demolition of the club the first piece of a multi-million-dollar redevelopment.
Saint Mary MacKillop College, which now occupies the club building, will move out by the end of the year.
Wagga-based Nash Bros Constructions, the owner of the leagues club building, and adjoining Eric Weissel Oval, will undertake the redevelopment approval process on a stage-by-stage basis.
Director Chris Nash said the demolition old building was the first part of the process with the master plan to be lodged at a later late.
Mr Nash said the standalone development applications will ensure the entire site is not affected by any potential delays.
He said he anticipated the development application for the Leagues Club to be "rubber-stamped" by council.
"We're pretty confident it will get through," he said.
Mr Nash could not confirm a timeframe for the demolition.
The site is destined for higher density housing, but it is unclear the company's exact plans for the number of houses.
The developer bought the site in 2005 for $1.375 million after the club fell into administration.
Earlier this year, the Eric Weissel grandstand was offered up to outlying sporting fields to be re-used, but there were no takers.
