With the amazing help of volunteers and sponsors, the club has rebounded from adversity to now be on the verge of hold its "comeback" gymkhana at its North Wagga grounds on Sunday.

Wagga equestrian stalwart Elaine Furze yesterday revealed upwards of "60 or 70 riders" would be competing at the gymkhana to usher in a new era for the club.

Furze, who has been involved with the Wagga Bidgee Pony Club for 32 years, said Sunday's event was the culmination of a "pretty stressful" time for riders and their families.

"So much hard work from a lot of people has gone into making this a reality," Furze said.

"This will be the first gymkhana we've held at the grounds in three years.

"It's been pretty stressful but we've had some wonderful support."

Furze said pony clubs as far away as Queensland had rallied behind the stricken Wagga club's bid to rebuild after the 2012 floods.

"We've had so many great donations," she said.

"The reaction was amazing."

Formed in 2000 by the merger of the Bidgee and Wagga pony clubs, the current group was shattered when the North Wagga grounds were inundated in 2012.

After surviving past floods, the club's main building was destroyed three years ago, leaving riders and their families distraught.

"The club has taken time to get up and going again, but thanks to a lot of hard work and fantastic sponsors, and donations, a new building has been erected," Furze said.

Historically, Wagga Bidgee Pony Club fits snugly into the sporting and equestrian tapestry of the city.

On Sunday a large contingent of young and enthusiastic riders will compete in a full program of equestrian events to herald the return of the famous club to its hallowed home.

"All riding, jumping and sporting events will be covered," Furze said.

"There will also be a canteen running all day.

"Everyone is welcome to come along to watch the action which will start about 8.30am."
