FARRER League heavyweight The Rock-Yerong Creek has continued its signing spree with the return of premiership forward Mitch Ward.
Just days after the Magpies unveiled the Farrer League's biggest signing in years in Albury forward Andy Carey, they have added Ward to a potent forward line.
Ward played in TRYC's 2011 Farrer League premiership and was a regular Farrer League representative player but left this year for a year with Canberra club Ainslie.
Ward kicked 41 goals from 13 games in AFL Canberra's division one and also managed three games with Ainslie in the North Eastern Australian Football League (NEAFL) competition.
TRYC president Gavin Hofert was pleased to welcome Ward back to the club.
"Mitch is back on board," Hofert said.
"The forward line is going to be pretty potent.
"We're really happy with the way we're going."
The Magpies have already added Ward, Carey, Josh Meiselbach, Tom Yates and Casey Hillary to the team that finished this season in seventh position.
TRYC can now boast Carey at full-forward, Ward at centre-half-forward and Todd Hannam and Luke Hillier floating in the attacking 50.
Hofert said the strength of the squad should ensure competition for positions.
"We've got a squad of 26 or 27 now," he said.
"Even in the years we played in grand finals, we only had 22 or 23 to pick from.
"It probably puts some pressure on blokes that have been getting games for the last few years, they're going to have to step up and put in the work."
TRYC plan to unveil further signings next week.
