The former Charles Sturt University environment lecturer who has mingled with environmental heavyweights including Al Gore, is advocating a change in consumer behaviour.
His seminar - Smart Home: Winning Ways to Save - will see experts Mark Golden, Gioia Protolan Gianniois, Noel Thomson, Brenton Post and Adrian Podmore, among others, educating people over four sessions on environmentally friendly adjustments that can be made.
"Most of us are stuck in the house we live," Dr Wallace said.
"But one in 10 Australian households have solar on the roof," he said.
"The growth is much faster than the previous government expected and it's very good."
The four council-supported lectures held during November will address different ways to save energy.
"If your house exists there is not much you can do," Mr Wallace said.
However, adding simple insulation can make a dramatic difference in energy use and heating costs.
"Future houses are all electric."
"We are trying to break it down into bite-sized pieces," he said.
Addressing the sceptics, Dr Wallace denied anyone was questioning the science behind climate change.
"Whether we like it or not, no one is arguing the science behind climate change - only economists and politicians."
"We are not pitching this as an environmental program - but more a money saver."
The money-saving potential from adopting greener energy such as solar power and better insulation is enormous, he said.
Dr Wallace commented on the extremely positive feedback he had received from councillors and the general community about the seminars.
Each session runs for one-and-half hours and will consist of demonstrations and presentations.
"If it's successful we might do it next year," he said.
