ORGANISERS behind two major October events don't believe a date clash will affect crowd numbers.

The Wagga City Council-run Little Big Day Out (LBDO), a free event for two to 12-year-olds, will clash with the opening day of the two-day 150th annual Wagga Show on Thursday, October 2.

While Wagga City Council (WWCC) has run the same event on the second Thursday of the school holidays for about 10 years, it's only the second time a date clash has occurred.

But WWCC manager of events Sally Nolan said organisers were working together to cross-promote the two events.

"With regards to the clash, it's not really a clash," she said.

"I can say we have been working with the events coordinator of the show since before June.

"One of the things we did find last year...we had a lot of people from out of town for LBDO and then stayed for the show afterwards.

"There's a union for both of these events.

"The show has donated three family passes to be promoted at LBDO.

"It's demonstrating how we can both work together to cross-promote and get the best outcomes for both events."

Ms Nolan added WWCC had also promoted the Wagga Show by including a show guide in their What's On newsletter.

Wagga Show Society publicity officer and events coordinator Alan Lean also said the clash wouldn't impact crowd numbers.

"We're working very closely with Wagga Council and have given them three family passes as prize giveaways," he said.

"Being the 150th show, we're expecting quite a lot of people and during the course of the days, we're expecting the more senior people who have been involved with the show, particularly in the last 50 or 60 years.

"The important thing is we're being a very inclusive with our local community involvement and family entertainment."

Mr Lean said the show was heavily centred around being family-friendly and patrons could expect up to six hours of non-stop free entertainment.

Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Lynne Cosgrove will officially open the show, while a strong focus will also be on the history of the showground.

Usual attractions will include fireworks to close the show both days.
