B: Brian Lake
The 2013 Norm Smith medallist lives and breathes for the big occasion as he has again shown in Hawthorn's past two games with great jobs on Jay Schulz and Tom Hawkins. He has proven to be an inspired recruit from the Bulldogs and will be critical in combating Sydney's land of the giants in attack.

B: Grant Birchall
The rebounding defender has had yet another consistent year and needs just five disposals on Saturday to better his career-high tally (570) for a season that he set in 2011. His run from defence will be extremely important.

HB: Sam Mitchell
A critical member of the Hawks' stellar midfield, the former captain has fought back well from a serious hamstring injury to average 28.6 disposals in his past nine games. He is an exquisite kick on either side  but his record in grand finals has been poor and he will be determined to redeem himself in his fourth premiership decider.

HB: Ben Stratton
Like Gibson, the versatile Stratton can belie his relatively small frame by capably playing a key defensive role. But he can also play on small forwards and has sometimes played on talls and smalls in the same game. He is another Hawk who has battled back manfully from injury this season - adductor and hip complaints - to play 10 of the last 11 games.

HB: Luke Hodge
Tough, determined, skilful and inspirational are just some of the words used to describe the Hawks' leader. He is an absolute general of the team and with a Norm Smith Medal under his belt, he knows what this time of year is all about.

C: Brad Hill
The silky smooth speedster has backed up his sophomore year in fine style. He is one of the Hawks' deadliest weapons with his outside run and is chasing a second premiership in just three years.

C: Will Langford
After managing just one game in his first three years, the son of a gun has hardly put a foot wrong in 2014 and has become an important part of the side as a tagger. He is hard as a cat's head and his finals performances, in particular, have been impressive.

C: Isaac Smith
Along with Hill, he provides Hawthorn with critical outside run. He is another Hawk who is enjoying his best year with career-high disposals and goals and, if he gets off the chain, could cause havoc.

HF: Luke Breust
The sharpshooter was duly rewarded with All-Australian honours this year. He has booted 54.11 so far in 2014 at an astonishing accuracy rate of 83.1 per cent and equalled Tony Lockett's record of most goals without a miss (29).

HF: Matt Spangher 
He didn't have his best game in his 50th match on Saturday evening, but the cult hero has probably done just enough to hang on to his spot. The versatile big man will be needed too with so many quality Sydney talls to negate.

HF: Jordan Lewis
After 10 years, the tough-as-nails midfielder was finally rewarded with All-Australian honours last week. He has taken his game to a new level in 2014 but will have to overcome a left knee injury if he is to play in his fourth grand final.

F: David Hale
After crossing from North Melbourne at the end of 2010, he must be pinching himself now that he is playing in his third grand final in a row. Hale has been in and out of the team a few times this year, but he is now clearly the Hawks' No.1 ruck.

F: Jarryd Roughead
What a superstar. After snapping his Achilles tendon in 2011, the big Hawk has fought back  to be one of the game's most damaging and versatile key position players. That fact was confirmed last week when he secured back-to-back All-Australian jumpers.

F: Jack Gunston
Another "Deadeye Dick", he has kicked 56.24 this year (at 70 per cent) and was stiff not to be in the 2014 All-Australian team. He has teamed up with Roughead and Breust to form the most dangerous forward combination in the AFL with a total of 180 goals between them.

Ruck: Ben McEvoy
There is a very good chance he will replace Jon Ceglar. Ceglar didn't have his best game against the Power and the door is now open for McEvoy, who hasn't played since round 21.

Ruck-rover: Liam Shiels
After injuring his AC joint earlier in the year, the hard-nosed 23-year-old has played 16 games in a row to be a fixture in the midfield. He has also  had his best season and is capable of doing a negating role.

Rover: Shaun Burgoyne:
With 26 finals under his belt, the silky veteran is the most experienced September campaigner in the team. He is one of the Hawks' classiest and most skilful players and can virtually play anywhere on the park. Has a 2-2 record in grand finals.

Interchange: Taylor Duryea
After being overlooked in last year's successful grand final side, despite playing 18 games, Duryea gets his chance in 2014. He has spent most of his time in defence and on the wing and has hardly missed a beat this year.

Interchange: Paul Puopolo
On his day, the small forward is capable of having a big impact. The forward pressure he brings  would thrill coach Alastair Clarkson. He has had another consistent season that has seen him lay a career-high 105 tackles.

Interchange: Matt Suckling
The defender with one of the game's most lethal kicks got a reprieve on Saturday at the expense of the omitted Brad Sewell and has probably done enough to feature in his second grand final after being forced to sit out last year's premiership due to a knee injury.

Interchange: Cyril Rioli
If he recovers well from the VFL grand final on Sunday  the superstar will almost certainly return to the side - and probably at the expense of Jonathan Simpkin. Rioli hasn't played since round 15 due to a hamstring injury but he is one of the game's most exciting and damaging players. He is capable of ripping a game apart in a matter of minutes.
