WAGGA cricketers will be sporting a new look this season.
Thirty seven years after the advent of World Series Cricket, team colours will be brought into the Wagga Cricket Association (WCA).
The six first grade clubs will replace the traditional whites with their own colours for one-day matches this season.
WCA operations manager Grant Geaghan said the change would help clubs be more easily recognisable.
"That's the way cricket is being played these days with one-day stuff being played in coloured clothing," he said.
"They want to do the same thing and I think they want team colours as its something that they miss out on with football."
A month out from the start of the season, the draw is yet to be approved.
The proposed draw was sent out to club weeks ago, but has to be rubber stamped at a meeting on October 7.
If all is approved as expected, senior cricket will start on October 19, and there will be one less round this season.
The Cricket World Cup final has affected the draw, with Cricket Australia getting its wish to have a general bye over over the weekend of March 28-29.
Deciding just to play the full two rounds, the grand final has been brought forward and the season will culminate on March 21-22.
An extra bye has been added into the season so there will be no cricket played on February 14, the day before Robertson Oval plays host to the Sheffield Shield match between NSW and Victoria.
That date is also when the World Cup gets underway.
The last matches of the year will be played on December 20, with three weeks off for the Christmas and New Year period.
There is the potential for a fifth grade of cricket to be introduced this year.
Nominations for teams don't close until next month's meeting but Geaghan believes most clubs will have an extra side this season.
"We might end up having five grades or we might have extra sides in third and fourth grade," he said.
