Karenne Connors and sister Sue Stoll, whose late mother Marcia Rumble was the driving force behind fund-raising for the pool in the 1980s, met with Wagga Health Service general manager Denis Thomas for the first time today to discuss the future of the pool.
"From our discussion with Mr Thomas, I feel the planning for redevelopment of the hospital is further advanced than I expected," Mrs Connors said.
"My impression is that parcel of land is already earmarked for a new building as the redevelopment of the hospital progresses.
"The only thing that might extend the pool's life is increased usage by the community.
"In light of the increase in fees, I think that is unlikely.
"It's all about the numbers.
"I am bitterly disappointed."
The Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) revealed in March plans to close the pool, but backed down from the closure in July because of community objection.
It vowed to continue to operate the pool under a new fee structure for the next nine months, when a review of pool usage and operation costs would then be conducted.
Mrs Connors handed a petition signed by 1400 people calling for the retention of the 21-year-old heated pool in the grounds of Wagga Base Hospital to health minister Jillian Skinner last month.
Mr Thomas was unable to return calls as of late last night, but is expected to release a statement today.
