Christopher Hoerler, who killed Jordan in 2000 and was later convicted of manslaughter, was released on parole from Sydney's Long Bay prison on August 14 on the understanding he would be deported to his homeland, Papua New Guinea.
He was whisked away from prison in a van by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
It is understood Hoerler is being kept in the Villawood immigration detention centre awaiting deportation.
His substantive visa was cancelled by the federal government in 2011.
The Daily Advertiser yesterday asked the office of Immigration and Border Protection minister Scott Morrison for an update on Hoerler and was told there had been no change.
Jordan's uncle, Darcy Smith, said he had received an email reply about two weeks ago to his inquiries about Hoerler, but the information in the message was scant.
Having lost their battle to keep Hoerler behind bars in an Australian prison, Jordan's family is now adamant the commitment to kick Hoerler out of the country must be kept.
"They assured me his visa had been cancelled, but we knew that before," Mr Smith said.
"I guess he is at Villawood.
"With no visa, they would not let him back into the community."
Mr Smith said he would now turn to the Department of Corrective Services and ask for its help in tracking down Hoerler.
He said the department in the past had always told Jordan's family Hoerler's whereabouts in the prison system.
Hoerler was twice refused parole by the State Parole Authority after his non-parole period of 10 years and nine months expired in July, 2012.
But he was freed last month because of "good prison performance and completion of programs addressing his offending behaviour, including the violent offender treatment program".
Hoerler's parole will expire in February, 2016.
