Wagga first-time author Tarryn Lean was pregnant with her second child; when she was trying to find a novel way to explain to her eldest there would soon be another little cherub in the family.
Each night, when she tucked little Faith, now 6, into bed she would tell the story of Charlotte whose mother was having a baby.
Eventually, she put pen to paper and her recently published picture book, Baby Glue, was born.
"My daughter was so fussy that when I changed the words she got upset, so I wrote it down," Mrs Lean said.
Mrs Lean described the arrival of her second child, Hope, now 3, as "completely different" to the first.
"When you're expecting a baby your stomach becomes public property," she said.
"It's quite confronting.
"When I was writing this, it was through her (Faith's) eyes," she said.
"Life doesn't stop when you have a second child."
For the Lean family life got busier.
Little Hope was born and Mrs Lean was in the midst of publishing her first book.
"I started writing it in 2011, it got accepted 18 months ago," she said.
Writing for children is difficult, there is no back story to hide behind, the words must work with the pictures.
The writing must be short, sharp and captivating.
"It had to be crisp and clear," Mrs Lean said.
"The story was very vivid in my mind and the words and illustrations work together, fifty fifty."
Living in a regional area and working with a Melbourne agency posed difficulties.
"I'm a very tactile person and a lot had to be done electronically," Mrs Lean said.
Luckily, the agency managed to secure acclaimed illustrator of more than 60 books Annie White, who Mrs Lean said did a wonderful job.
The main character Charlotte was loosely based on Faith.
"I got my daughters' nick-names in there," Mrs Lean said.
"For a child expecting a sibling, looking at the possibility of having another baby can be stressful.
"(It's important) for a child to hear they are loved and part of a community."
Baby Glue can be purchased from all Wagga bookstores and through all major online book sellers.
