The listing of the 21,008 square-metre studio on Lake Albert Road in Kooringal has attracted much speculation since it was listed for sale by tender last September.
A religious group responsible for community care centres across the city has confirmed the purchase of the building, with the long-term vision of developing another nursing facility.
Forrest Centre chairman Peter Fitzpatrick shined light on speculation yesterday, stating they had purchased the building.
While he said there were no immediate plans to develop the block into a nursing home or caring facility, it could be on the cards.
"We're still considering our options," Mr Fitzpatrick said.
"We're hopeful down the track to develop further nursing home facilities.
"We would have to wait until an appropriate need arises for that to happen.
"The board has not made a decision.
"We'd need to get a licence and we haven't applied for one.
"Long term it allows us the option to provide further options for residents in the city."
Mr Fitzpatrick said Prime and 2WG Radio were still tenants at the site and couldn't elaborate on their movements upon development of a new facility.
It's believed Prime staff will eventually relocate to a Gurwood Street building.
At the time of sale, they confirmed it would continue to operate from the city and that all 14 staff members would move to the new location.
The building was purpose-built in the 1960s, with radio stations, 2WG and 93.1 StarFM moving in on July 1, 2000.
It's understood 2WG and StarFM will also eventually relocate to a new CBD site.
