THE alleged killer of Wagga noodle shop operator Deng Chi Li declined to make an appearance in court on Wednesday for a mention of his case.
Kin Yee Wong, 28, is accused of stabbing 51-year-old Mr Deng to death in his Baylis Street shop in September, 2006.
He was charged with murder on June 28 this year after being extradited from Malaysia.
Defence solicitor Elizabeth Bushby mentioned Wong's case in Wagga Local Court on Wednesday morning when the matter was listed for reply to the prosecution's brief of evidence.
She told magistrate Michael Antrum that Wong did not wish to appear in court via audio-visual link with a prison.
Ms Bushby said a substantial brief had been served and she requested an adjournment of eight weeks during which time a case conference will be held with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Mr Antrum granted the request and adjourned the case to October 27.
Bail for Wong was not applied for and was formally refused.
