TALENTED grey Video Show suggested he has a bright future ahead with a barnstorming maiden victory at Murrumbidgee Turf Club on Tuesday.
Video Show had showed promise at his first five starts and he put it all together to score an eye-catching victory in the Lion Country Class One & Maiden Plate (1600m).
Video Show ($5.50) was slow away and gave the field about four lengths early and then sighted the leaders even further only to unleash with a devastating turn of foot in the home straight.
Wagga jockey Brad Clark weaved his way through the field to hit the front inside the 200-metre mark and the four-year-old attacked the line to score by three lengths.
It was Wagga trainer Peter Churche's first win since April 2009 but during that time he has only taken a horse to the races on seven occasions.
Churche was pleased with the win.
"He's been slow away but never that bad," Churche said.
"He just wants a bit of distance."
Video Show is owned by Churche, Bill Day and Robert Radley.
Video Show is out of Video Lass, a winner of seven races between 1998 and 2001, who was raced by Churche and trained by his father-in-law, long-time Wagga trainer Con Crowe.
Churche has experienced rotten luck with Video Lass' progeny so he particularly thrilled to see Video Show win.
"They've all broken down," Churche said.
"A good one broke his leg at the first start he had.
"Two have bowed tendons.
"This is the only decent one out of the mare that I've been able to keep."
The way Video Show attacked the line, it suggested he will get more than the 1600m.
Churche believes the four-year-old will.
"His mother won over 2000 at Canberra one day," he said.
"I think he can.
"I'll see how he pulls up and we might give him another race over the mile then tip him out for a spell."
Video Show flew past Big Uma Bazooma ($5.00) with another 2¾ lengths to Digger's Daughter ($4.00) in third.
Clark was pleased to see Video Show produce his best.
"He went good, he's been knocking on the door," Clark said.
"It was good to get a win for Peter."
