A three-car crash last Thursday follows, what some locals say, a string of accidents that could be reduced with a roundabout.
A black Daihatsu was travelling north on Beckwith Street when it failed to give way at the Kincaid Street intersection at 4.15pm.
A white Mercedes travelling east on Kincaid Street braked to evade the car but tee-boned the Daihatsu, causing it to spin and collide with a third stationary car facing south on Beckwith Street.
Inspector Peter McLay said there were no injuries and the female driver of the Daihatsu was issued with an infringement notice after police conducted interviews with all parties.
Sportsmen's Club Hotel publican David Dean believed a roundabout would reduce the number of crashes and near misses he'd seen on the intersection.
"Absolutely," he said.
"There's probably been 12 accidents in the 2.5 years I've been here and on top of that, there'd be a near-miss once a week."
Jason McAuliffe has lived on the corner of Kincaid and Beckwith streets for six years and can count as many accidents.
"They'll have to do something," he said.
"I've lived around these parts of a while, you'll hear them a fair bit.
"I heard they were talking about putting one in a while ago.
"They'll have to do something, won't they?"
But Graham Winson, a Beckwith Street resident of three years, maintains the intersection has clear vision in all four directions and a roundabout was needed elsewhere before this was made a priority.
"I guess if people are careful, it's pretty safe," he said.
"You can clearly see each way.
"I would imagine there's more hazardous intersections than that," citing the Leavenworth Drive and Bourke Street intersection among the worst.
A Wagga City Council spokesman confirmed a roundabout for the Kincaid and Beckwith streets intersection was not currently identified in their long-term financial plan.
