Miss Wagga Community Princess Cayde Cheney returned home last week from a whirlwind trip to Wagga's sister city in the US.
Cayde loved the trip so much she extended her stay. So did Miss Wagga Jayne Morton, who will return home later this month.
"Being away just makes you realise how lucky we are in Australia," Cayde said upon returning from her first overseas trip.
"I can't stress enough how lucky we are. You don't realise how much we have until you go to the US."
The duo had a mix of social and cultural engagements with key stakeholders in Leavenworth, including a meet-and-greet with the city's police chief.
Historic Fort Leavenworth, which was toured by the ambassadors, serves as a reminder of the shared military experience of the two cities.
But Cayde said the future of Wagga's relationship with Leavenworth now extends beyond military ties.
"Not many people know where Wagga is," she said.
"We put a human face on the relationship and we were there as one big family.
"They'll get a better understanding of the relationship.
"It made us proud to be there."
