Behind the shenanigans however, is a serious cause, with the campaign focused on raising money and awareness of motor neurone disease (MND).
Members of the 12s and 14s Shooting Stars junior netball teams took it upon themselves to cool down after a hard afternoon's training ahead of their semi-final game today.
"I have a cousin who suffers from MND and a friend did the challenge and nominated my daughter Lauren," parent Brian Meyers said.
"We thought why not take it a step further," he said.
"When I read about it, I thought it was a worthy cause and every little bit helps."
Lauren Meyers, 15, who is the team's umpire, said it was something a bit different.
"I didn't know much about MND before and I've gone to find out more about what we can do about it," she said.
Mr Meyers said while it was a spur of the moment activity, the bucket was passed around afterwards to collect money for a donation for MND Australia, which has so far collected $700,000 nationally.
