THE BIG old gates to Leeton's Showground may be looking a little worse for wear, but when you think about the crowds they have endured, its little wonder they look weary.

Next year marks the 100th anniversary of the beloved Leeton Show.
To mark the special celebration, the show society opened a competition for logo designs.
Lifelong Leeton resident Ginette Nardi was a last minute contender, but that did not matter.
The keen amatuer artist was awarded first place for her artistic design, centred around the iconic gates.
"We always walk through the gates, for 100 years people have walked through them," Mrs Nardi said.
"I added the fireworks because we always see them at the show and I though, for 100 years there would be a nice display."
Mrs Nardi, who stayed up late finishing the design the night before entries closed, never expected to win.
"I thought they were ringing to say thanks, but when I won I was really happy," she said.
"It's good to be a part of the 100 years (celebration)."
Show society president and member of the judging panel, Crystal O'Brien, said judges had been looking for "simple designs that stood out".
"(Mrs Nardi's) was very well presented, with good colours and it stood out."
Of the 17 entrants, many used inspiration from the show society's standard logo, something Mrs Nardi did not do.
"It's great to see something different," Mrs O'Brien said.
As part of her prize, Mrs Nardi has been awarded in $150 cash, $30 worth of ride tickets and family membership for both days of the 2014 show.
Mrs Nardi's logo will be used to advertise the 2015 show as soon as the 2014 show comes to a close.
Her logo and the other entries will be on display at this year's event.
