Police were conducting stationary speed enforcement duties at Mundarlo - as part of Operation Saturation - on Tuesday when they allegedly detected a silver Mercedes travelling at 160km/h in the right hand lane.

Officers stopped the vehicle just before 10am and spoke to the 24-year-old Victorian male driver who was travelling on a provisional licence.

Police suspended the man's driver's licence for six months and slapped him with infringement notices for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and driving in the right lane.

The man told police he would arrange to be picked up at the location.

Following the incident, police say the man was caught driving the vehicle three more times in the area.

The man was arrested on the third occasion - on the Hume Highway at Holbrook - and was later charged with drive whilst suspended.

He was refused bail and fronted Albury Local Court on Tuesday.

Earlier, officers nabbed another driver allegedly travelling at a similar speed in the same area.

The grey Mercedes sedan with green P-plates was clocked at 151km/h in the 110km/h zone just before 6am.

Officers stopped the car and spoke to the 26-year-old female driver, before suspending her licence for six months.

The woman was also issued an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Assistant Commissioner John Hartley said the incidents were the reason Operation Saturation was under way.

"The two drivers today are lucky they got away with their licence suspended and fines, as their reckless behaviour could have easily ended up in a serious crash," Assistant Commissioner Hartley said.

Operation Saturation is a joint initiative between NSW Police and the Centre for Road Safety.

Highway Patrol officers will continue to be deployed in large numbers across the state for the rest of the month.
