On face value at least it would appear the fun police have struck yet again.
This time Wagga City Council has moved in with a front end loader to destroy a home made bike jump built by a bunch of kids in a Turvey Park street.
While it appears to be a heavy handed approach, to be fair to council, they are in a no win position.
They are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
Council has already been criticized for demolishing the jump, but if the children have a fall they leave themselves wide open to legal action.
However the decision will still leave many people bewildered.
Many of us have fond childhood memories of building such contraptions and if we got hurt, well we just got hurt.
Our parents wouldn't have dreamed of suing council and in fact would have probably blamed us for not being careful.
Yes times have changed but it is still a sad reflection of our society today.
Children are often told to get out from behind their computers and when they do they get punished.
And unfortunately it's not the first time council has targeted the boys, all aged between five and 13.
Tree houses and flying foxes have also been dismantled in recent years.
In its defence council says there are several parks and recreational areas close by that could be used as alternative play areas.
But really it's not the same is it?
No one has complained about the boys and, as one parent quite rightly said, children playing in the street creates a sense of community.
It appears the boys will now be forced onto private property to continue their fun, otherwise it will be back to the computer for them.
