CANBERRA apprentice jockey Carly Frater survived a nasty three-horse fall that marred Murrumbidgee Turf Club's race meeting on Friday.
Frater, Wagga jockey Andy Bloomfield and Southern District premiership winner Brendan Ward were all taken to Wagga Base Hospital for observation after falling from their mounts in the XXXX Gold Class Three Handicap (1400m).
Frater was the first to fall and was worst off of the three.
She was unconscious for three minutes and was still heavily concussed when taken by the Ambulance.
She received a "nasty" gash above her left eyebrow and also complained of soreness to her left shoulder.
Bloomfield reported of soreness to his neck and was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons.
Ward also had soreness to his neck, lower back and right leg and was taken for precautionary reasons.
Southern District chairman of stewards John Davidson visited all three jockeys on Friday night and said there was no further updates.
"All three jockeys are undergoing scans, CT and X-ray," Davidson said.
An inquiry into the fall will be held at a date to be fixed.
The three horses Jockarli, Inigo and Heysen came through the incident unscathed.
The fall occurred approaching the 600-metre mark when Frater appeared to clip heels on $6.00 chance Jockarli.
She was riding Jockarli for her bosses, Canberra training partnership Barbara Joseph and Paul Jones.
Frater has only been in Australia just over 12 months after arriving from England.
Frater only had her first race ride in Australia in July but has enjoyed four wins in her first month.
Jockarli's fall then caused Ward to come off Inigo and eventually Bloomfield on Heysen.
The race was run by Landlocked ($10) having his first start for the Joe Cleary stable.
