AN INJECTION of confidence during pre-season proved the magic formula behind Corey Watt's breakout year.
The 20-year-old North Wagga speedster has been one of the surprise packets of the Farrer League season.
He has been one of the Saints in-form players from day one and has become an integral part of a quality onball brigade alongside coach Nathan Dowdle.
"I found a bit of form at the back end of last season and just carried it through to this year," Watt said.
"I was always quick and fit, but I just needed that bit of confidence and needed to get used to playing senior footy."
Now ensconced in North Wagga's midfield, Watt wants to stretch his outstanding season as far as he can.
The Saints will need to win four consecutive games to claim a remarkable Farrer League title after finishing fifth on the competition ladder.

- Corey Watt
The assignment is a daunting one, but Watt is approaching the finals series full of confidence.
He has only ever played one senior football final.
In his first year out of under 17s, Watt lined up for North Wagga when the Saints were bundled out of the 2012 finals series by Marrar in the first week.
The Bombers triumphed by three points to spell an early end to North Wagga's season.
Watt is out for revenge when the two clubs meet again in the same circumstances on Sunday.
"I'm keen as," he said.
"We set a goal at the start of the year to play finals, and we've done that now so hopefully we can go on with it.
"We've beaten everyone at least once this year which puts a lot of confidence in the back of our minds.
"We know we've just got to stick to our structure and play our normal game, try not to think of it as a final."
The loser of Sunday's final will bow out of the premiership running, while the winner will go on to play either Coleambally or East Wagga-Kooringal in the first semi.
North Wagga is expecting to welcome back defender Sam Longmore while Hayden McLachlan, Aaron Guymer, Ben Lucas and Mitch Mullins all remain under injury clouds.
