TURVEY Park captain-coach Chris Cerato will lead the Bulldogs out for the final time against Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes at Maher Oval on Saturday.
Cerato will finish his two-year stint in charge of the Bulldogs in their final round clash against the Goannas.
Cerato informed the club earlier this year that he will not seek a third year in charge and is yet to decide on his playing future.
Cerato took over the Bulldogs during tough times and has overseen gradual improvement to the point where they will this year avoid the bottom of the ladder for the first time since 2010, when they made the grand final.
Turvey Park has won four games to date and currently sit in seventh position with the final round to go.
Cerato said he has enjoyed coaching his junior club.
"It's been pretty good and I'm happy with the improvement we've made," Cerato said.
"The time is right to hand it over.
"To coach your junior club that you played a lot of footy with is pleasing.
"Without winning too many games, I'm pleased we're in a better position now than when I took over.
"The main incentive in coming back was to help turn things around and the improvement the young blokes have shown during that time is tenfold."
Cerato has again led from the front and will be one of the main contenders when the Bulldogs' hold their best and fairest count on Saturday night.
He is shooting for a fourth straight best and fairest after taking out Lockhart's in 2011-12 and Turvey Park's in 2013.
After four years of coaching, two at Lockhart and now two at Turvey Park, Cerato is looking forward to concentrating on playing.
"I can worry about getting my body right," he said.
"It's the worst it's been this year.
"Now I can worry about one bloke instead of 50."
Cerato will spend the next six months working in Griffith and will return to Wagga in February.
He is undecided on where he will play his footy.
For now, he would love nothing more than a final round upset over MCUE.
"It's definitely going to be hard," he said.
"They're a top three side and have finals on the agenda so blokes are going to be pushing for spots to play finals.
"It's at home so that helps and hopefully the boys can come together one last time for the year."
Turvey Park regained Dan Ryall last week and will welcome back Jesse Cunningham, Josh Donaldson and Brendan Bryce.
The Bulldogs are yet to announce a coach to replace Cerato for next year.
