A MAN will front court on Wednesday charged over the alleged serious assault of a woman on the XPT near Galong on Tuesday.

A 67-year-old woman was seated on the train, reading a book, when she was approached by a 29-year-old man she didn’t know shortly after 12pm.
Without any conversation, the man allegedly punched her in the face.
At the time, the woman was wearing reading glasses that smashed, cutting her face.
The man was detained by the woman’s husband and another passenger.
Police and paramedics met the train at Harden, where the man was arrested.
The injured woman was taken to Harden Hospital and was later transported to Canberra District Hospital.
She was treated for facial injuries, including a suspected fractured eye socket and a broken jaw.
The man was taken to Cootamundra police station, where he was charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail and will appear before Wagga Local Court on Wednesday.
