WAGGA United coach Travis Weir says there's still improvement in the Crows as the defending premier builds towards its title defence.
The club chalked up its 14th consecutive win yesterday as it held out top-four threat Henwood Park to score a tough 1-0 victory at Rawlings Park.
United hasn't been beaten since it went down to the Hawks by a goal in round four this season.
On paper it looks like the Crows are in cruise control, but Weir believes there's work to be done yet.
"We still need to finish games off a little stronger," Weir said.
"We tend to fall away towards the end of the game, and even towards the end of the first half sometimes.
"That pressure and stress we cause ourselves doesn't have to be there.
"We just need to work on keeping the ball late in games and holding our shape for 90 minutes."
It took little more than 15 minutes for in-form United forward Zeph Daniel to open the scoring yesterday when he pounced on a crossed ball to send it past the opposition keeper.
From there the Crows created several scoring opportunities but were constantly denied as the Henwood Park defence scrambled to thwart their chances.
The remaining 75 minutes was a slog as neither team could penetrate the goals.
United managed to hold out and take the win as captain Chris McKenzie and fellow midfielders Daniel Lawrence and Nick Donato dominated.
First grade debutante Mitch Davis also enjoyed a big game up front.
Weir admitted the scoreboard made the game look close but says the result was never in doubt.
"We were pretty dominant I thought," he said.
"They really only had one good scoring chance, whereas we had quite a few that we couldn't quite put away.
"At the end there we had to change our formation and get some more men behind the ball to defend.
"But our composure was great, the boys held their shape so we were never under much pressure."
United has now turned its attention to this week's blockbuster clash with old rival Tolland, where the Crows will aim to sure up the minor premiership.
They are currently five points clear on top of the table and a win this weekend would seal the deal.
Weir hopes to get walk-up starters Jacob Sadleir-Knight, Alex Coetzer and Ryan McKenzie back before finals, while Eugene Rauber remains unavailable.
