According to police, the girls - aged 10 and 11 - were riding their bikes along Capper Street between 8.30am and 9am on Wednesday when they thought they were being followed.
The girls told their principal they saw a man wearing dark clothing and a black cap behind them
Senior Constable Mick Wood, from Cootamundra police, said when the girls stopped the male did the same some distance behind them.
"The unknown male did not approach the girls or try to engage them in conversation," Senior Constable Wood said.
