CROSSING the finishing line at Wollundry Lagoon after completing the Lake To Lagoon is now a thing of the past, with the popular fun-run to remain a 10 kilometre loop of Lake Albert.
The annual race will now start and finish at Apex Park, following the same course as it did last year.
Organisers had to change last year's course to avoid a clash with the Cycling Australia National Road Championships in the city centre and despite having the possibility to revert back to the traditional route, organisers elected to retain last year's course.
"With the positive feedback from last year and with people loving that they can park in the one spot and not have to catch a bus back to the start is a big plus," organiser Rob Overs said.
"So we decided to retain last year's course."
WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE
With the fun-run attracting a wide variety of the community with entrants varying from serious runners and cyclists to weekend warriors, families and dog walkers, another large number of participants is expecting for the race on September 14.
Around 2400 people, took part in the event last year but organisers are looking to once again reach the 3000 mark.
The race is set to start at the traditional spot on Eastlakes Drive and head north onto Lake Albert Road, will turn around just before Lord Baden Powell Drive and down to the Lakeside Drive intersection, and around the lake to Apex Park.
With the permanent move to the "lake to lake" organisers are searching for a name for the event with participants able to vote for the name on the day.
Entries for Wagga's largest free participation sporting event are now open at www.laketolagoon.com.
