Eggleton and Roy Madeley, of Wagga, were yesterday chosen as the lucky winners of a competition conducted by The Daily Advertiser - and carrying Warren's book, The Voice, as the prizes.
Only recently released, The Voice was co-written by Fairfax Media journalist Andrew Webster, and details Warren's life from his childhood in Junee to his place as an iconic rugby league caller.
Along the way, the book chronicles how Warren broke into radio as a teenager calling football for 2LF in Young before rising to become a famous broadcaster at Channel Nine.
And, judging by the overwhelming response to the Advertiser competition, Warren's story is set to be a must-read for sports enthusiasts.
Shirley Eggleton was certainly delighted yesterday to have grabbed one of the prized copies.
"That's excellent," Eggleton said when the news was delivered.
"I'm so excited. I can't believe I've won."
Eggleton said Warren's strong links with Junee made her keenly interested to read about the caller's life.
"He's from Junee and so I am," she laughed.
"How exciting."
