AFL Riverina has launched an investigation into an ugly incident between two opposing club members at Langtry Oval on Saturday.
The governing body has confirmed it will investigate an alleged confrontation between a Marrar official and a member of the Charles Sturt University football club.
From witness reports, the two men became involved in a heated argument just after the first grade full-time siren as the players made their way into the sheds.
It is then alleged the two men traded blows, each landing at least one punch on the other before players from both clubs rushed to become involved in or break up the fight.
The Daily Advertiser has chosen not to name the men involved.
AFL Riverina chairman Michael Irons confirmed both parties faced retribution if found guilty of breaching the code of conduct.
"There will be an investigation into the incident that occurred after the game between Marrar and CSU," Mr Irons said.
"We will be asking for statements from the clubs and officials involved.
"Those statements will be reviewed and a decision will be made on whether further action should occur under the AFL Riverina Code of Conduct.
"It is a disappointing incident which will be investigated and dealt with accordingly."
Mr Irons did not want to speculate on any possible penalty to be handed down.
He expects more information to be released later this week once witness reports and club statements have been received.
Wagga Local Area Command confirmed police had not been notified of the incident.
Both Marrar and CSU were contacted by The Daily Advertiser yesterday but chose to issue a "no comment" due to the nature of the investigation.
The incident followed an at-times fiery Farrer League game between Marrar and CSU, during which young Bombers player Callum Gardner was knocked unconscious.
Gardner was out cold and couldn't play any further part in the game.
