EASTERN Wanderers have lost one of their best attacking weapons for the remainder of the Griffith District Amateur Football Association (GDAFA) season.
Prolific goal scorer Shaun Reddy has packed up and moved to the Gold Coast with four rounds left to play before the Wagga-based club calls an end to its inaugural campaign.
"Shaun's been one of our most consistent players this season," Wanderers captain Justin Curran said of his departing teammate.
"He will be sorely missed."
Reddy's omission won't impact the team greatly, however, as fellow midfielder Cam Mavor returns from injury to act as a direct swap.
Mavor will assume Reddy's position when the Wanderers line up against Yoogali FC at Gissing Oval on Saturday.
Their finals hopes are long gone, but Curran says the Eastern Wanderers are out to finish their season on a high.
The fledgling club strung together some impressive results early in the year but it has now been five weeks since its last victory.
Curran says there is still plenty to play for.
"We want to finish on a positive note because it has been a positive season overall," he said.
"We want to show that we're not here to fill a spot, we want to show the competition the kind of soccer we are capable of playing."
Yoogali FC is a GDAFA powerhouse and scored a 4-0 win last time the two clubs met.
