The incidents are the latest in a rock-throwing spree at a known trouble spot in the city's southern suburbs - six motorists were hit on Wednesday night.
According to police, the officer was driving on Red Hill Road, Tolland, when his car was struck about 7.45pm.
Crime manager Detective Inspector Darren Cloake said the officer stopped and saw four young people running from the scene.
"The officer chased the four young persons through the lanes ways towards Brooks Circuit and sighted the young persons jumping fences," Inspector Cloake said.
"The officer managed to identify one of the young persons before he made good his escape."
At 7:45am on Friday, the officer visited a home in Brooks Street, Tolland, and arrested a 15-year-old boy.
Clothing worn by the teenager on Thursday night was also recovered.
He was taken to Wagga police station and is currently assisting police with their investigations.
Just over an hour later, three motorists were driving along Glenfield Road when they were pelted with rocks just north of the Red Hill Road intersection.
A Mercedes Smart hatch sustained a small crack on one of its windows, a white Ford Ranger ute was dented, while a Hyundai i20 sedan suffered small dents and mirror damage as a result of the incident, which occurred about 9pm.
Inspector Cloake said all the drivers stopped their vehicles a short distance down the road and saw five or six persons, believed to be children, on the western side of the road near the levee bank.
They ran from the scene.
All were wearing dark clothing, except for one who had a white/grey jumper.
Police were called and made extensive patrols of the Tolland area, but were unable to locate them.
"The damage to all the victim's vehicle were minor, but the actions of (those involved) have potential to cause serious damage or injury," he said.
