COLLINGULLIE-Ashmont-Kapooka coach Shane Lenon is not reading anything into ladder positions ahead of Saturday's showdown with Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong.
The Demons have opened a two-game buffer at the top of the Riverina Football League (RFL) ladder and a win over the Lions on Saturday will virtually assure them of the minor premiership.
With only five rounds remaining, GGGM is the last of the current top-five teams that CAK will face before the end of the home and away season.
The Demons have the bye after this, then finish the year with games against Turvey Park, Leeton-Whitton and Griffith.
Lenon though believes ladder position is irrelevant and expects the fifth-placed Lions to prove a genuine threat at Crossroads Oval on Saturday.
"We just take it week by week and Ganmain obviously got back on the winner's list last week against Leeton," Lenon said.
"I think they're expected to get a couple of good players back this week so we'll try to prepare the best we can and back ourselves in on Saturday."
Lenon is a premiership coach at GGGM and achieved a great deal at his home club.
He knows better than most what to expect from the Lions, especially when they are up against it.
"I've got a lot of respect for them, I was involved in the club and it's a great footy club," Lenon said.
"They've earnt that respect.
"They'll come out firing.
"They only need to beat one top side and that will be a huge scalp for them and I'm sure that's the way they will be approaching it on Saturday."
CAK expect to welcome back Matt and Dan Kennedy from injury for Saturday's contest.
Both players missed the Demons' 134-point victory over Narrandera last Saturday.
Nathan Fuller, who kicked five against GGGM last time, Brayden Ambler and Shane Gow will also push for selection.
"We could do horses for courses, that's something we could look at," Lenon said referring to the possible selection of Fuller.
"But it's going to be hard enough to make two changes, let alone three or four, after last week."
CAK will be going for it's 12th straight victory on Saturday.
