A seven-hour stand-off on a Collingullie property ended when police discovered their man unconscious inside a farmhouse. A dramatic arrest in April saw two people charged with the murder of 74-year-old The Rock resident Rodney Willis, who died in his home the week prior. Members of The Rock community groups remembered Mr Willis as a man who was clever, private and good-humoured - with The Rock and District Men's Shed secretary Kevin Verdon describing his friend as "gentle and an avid reader". Lockhart's motocross star Jackson Strong had to be airlifted to Sydney after he and another man were seriously injured in an explosion, believed to be home-made fireworks, on New Year's Eve. FULL STORY.
An Australia Day float almost ended in tragedy for four people who were missing for about six hours after they set off from Wagga Beach. The family of seven planned to float from Wagga Beach to their campsite at Yarragundry, but couldn’t get to shore and continued downstream. FULL STORY.

Wagga mum Katie Finch took her battle to court after she received a parking ticket because she overstayed a one-hour limit in the Sturt Mall by 11 minutes. The reason she overstayed? A man who dragged a police officer along Docker Street in a stolen car in 2012 was sentenced to a maximum of seven years imprisonment in February. Thomas Boatwright, known as Tom, will be forever remembered as a man who would do anything for anyone; a gentleman who built a nation-wide network of friends as a result.
