Mr Ryan was the owner of the historic Monte Cristo homestead, along with wife Olive, widely regarded as the most haunted house in Australia.
The couple first moved into the house in 1963, transforming it from a vandalised shell on a hill with no doors, electricity, running water or windows into a thriving business and one of Junee's most famous attractions.
Monte Cristo was put on the map in 2012 when the film Muirhouse, which heavily featured the homestead, was screened at the Cannes Film Festival to critical acclaim.
There was much more to Mr Ryan's life than the Monte Cristo homestead, however - over the five decades he owned the property he was a tailor and dressmaker by trade while also trying his hand at bricklaying, plumbing, electrical work and welding.
Mr Ryan is the father of renowned motorcycle stunt rider Lawrence Legend, who grew up in the Monte Cristo household before going on to break numerous stunt riding world records.
A service to celebrate Mr Ryan's life will be held at the Monte Cristo homestead on Thursday at 10am.
