A 28-year-old man who was arrested in March this year in Malaysia was handed over to NSW Police in Kuala Lumpur on Friday and they arrived in Sydney early Saturday morning.
Strike Force Nuggetty - comprising officers from Wagga and the state homicide squad conducted the investigation.
It was on September 13, 2006 that Cheng Li was found slumped at the rear of his shop with multiple stab wounds.
The man was taken to Botany Bay police station in Sydney and was charged with murder and robbery.
He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Court on Sunday, June 29.
