If the local pub and club scene is not working out and you cannot find love online, two Wagga fitness fanatics might have your solution.
Kayla White learned of fit2date six months ago before moving to Wagga and has become the city’s ambassador to bring the event here next month.
“I’m single, I’m fit, I work hard,” she said.
“When you’re looking for someone when you’re single, you want to find someone who is like minded.”
fit2date is a boot camp for fit singles who want to meet other fit singles.
A mega meet will be held on May 17 by fit2date founder Erica French, who will run a gruelling two-hour boot camp for participants.
“It will be a lot of fun with lots of mingling and team type events,” Ms White said.
“But if you’re not prepared to come down and get sweaty, maybe it’s not for you.”
An emphasis has been placed on the training session with the possibility of meeting someone as a potential bonus.
“Don’t think it’s going to be cheesy,” Wagga personal trainer Shoun Piper said.
“It’s a training session but the people there are going to be single.”
The training sessions will be followed by a gathering at the pub for participants to get to know each other better.
If the event is successful, smaller weekly training sessions will be held for four to six weeks encompassing group activities.
Wagga has seen numerous gyms open in recent months and Mr Piper said residents are craving new fitness trends.
“It’s obviously a place where fitness is massive at the moment, it’s a booming thing in Wagga,” Mr Piper said.
“And if you pay for it and don’t get a date, it doesn’t matter, you’re going to get an awesome work out.
“Even the cost of it is cheaper than a personal training session.”
All the single ladies and men interested in participating are encouraged to register on the fit2date database and will be sent an invitation to the Wagga event.
fit2date will be held on Saturday, May 17, from 9am to 11am and is $50, including training session, prizes and other giveaways.
